Living Standards Measurement Using Income and Expenditure for the Czech Republic
Tachovská, Tereza ; Janský, Petr (advisor) ; Soudek, Jan (referee)
(in English) The aim of this thesis is to show the differences in results regarding living standards when using income and expenditures in the Czech Republic. The main factor which leads to inaccuracy in the results when using only income is consumption smoothing. The thesis examines income and expenditure inequality and poverty between 2001 and 2011. Each measurement uses more measures (coefficients, indices, etc.) to gain the most comprehensive impression possible and to avoid possible deficiencies. Namely, the head count ratio, the aggregate poverty gap, the Sen index and the Takayama index for poverty, and the Gini coefficient, the coefficient of variation and the Theil index for measuring inequality are used. An analysis of the relationship between average income and expenditures shows that average monthly income was higher than expenditures. The trend in inequality was more or less the same for income and expenditures when considering the whole population (constant or increasing depending on the measure used); with regard to the inequality of pensioners, the results were quite different depending on the measure. Expenditure poverty for the whole population exceeded income poverty, whereas for pensioners' households it was the other way around. The whole population, poverty was relatively...

Letovská, Vendula ; Cahlík, Tomáš (advisor) ; Kopečná, Vědunka (referee)
Sustainable Development Goals are focused on international cooperation in the field of socioeconomic, political and environmental issues. This bachelor's thesis deals with Goal 8, which promotes achievement of sustainable economic growth, decent work and full employment, and examines three indicators of the goal: annual growth of GDP per capita, domestic material consumption and the rate of unemployment. Thesis is based on the panel data analysis of 132 countries, which were obtained from the World Bank and Sustainable Development Goals databases for selected variables as observed in the time period of 2000 - 2019. According to the regression results, variables education, inflation, adjusted net savings and unemployment rate report significant effects on the annual growth of GDP per capita. Similarly, unemployment rate is strongly affected by the level of obtained education and inflation, as well as by the growth of population and GDP per capita. Inference of domestic material consumption did not uncover any statistically significant variables. Evaluation of the best-fitted forecast models does not predict a strong probability of actually fulfilling the goal or at least its sub targets by the agreed deadline. Thus the Goal 8 proves to be difficult to achieve only a few years after the introduction...

Lifestyle of people registered on the employment office
ŠESTÁKOVÁ, Andrea
Unemployment is a significant phenomenon occurring in today´s society. Its economic and social impact does not influent only society but has undoubtedly a negative impact on an individual, too. This bachelor thesis tries to capture all phenomena in the context of the unemployment which influence the man´s lifestyle and also points out the individual traits. The thesis has been divided into a theoretical and practical part. In the theoretical part it has been started with the definition of the unemployment in the economic theory, moves over the task of Labour Office of the Czech Republic to the state policy of the unemployment. For the research of the thesis the qualitative research strategy has been chosen. The data have been collected through the interviewing techniques with the method of semi-structured dialogues. The choice of the research sample has been made through the deliberate choice over institutions. The chosen institution for the research realization was Labour Office in Český Krumlov where the direct search of jobseekers with the consent of the director was made. The sample consisted of eight people who were willing to join the research. These people answered five ranges of issues out of the semi-structured dialogue which dealt with the lifestyle, interpersonal relationships, health, structure of the day and way of the job search. The main aim of the bachelor thesis was to describe the lifestyle of people registered at the labour office with a focus of on the living standards, interpersonal relationships and health. The sub-objective was to find out the current structure of the day in the life of an unemployed person and how he or she looks for a new job. The results showed that the influence of the unemployment on the living standards is particularly set by the decline in revenue which largely eliminates the existence of economies. The decline in revenue is mostly solved by the partial restriction of consumption. In two cases it was also solved by the form of a loan and in one case by the sale of assets. The influence of the unemployment on the health is of psychological or physical nature while stress is shown most. In two cases more frequent headache, insomnia and increased morbidity occurred by a long-term unemployed communicative partner, too. There has been registered no influence of the unemployment on the family relationships in half of the cases. In three cases family conflicts occurred and only in one case the unemployment was considered positive because it strengthened family relationship. Then results showed that the evaluation of a common day of the unemployed people is completely individual. Nevertheless the opinion prevails that the time caused by the unemployment brings new possibilities for activities of a usual day but it is also the cause of social isolation and reduced funding. Then it was found out that the people registered at the labour office use the internet and their friends for seeking for the job offers the most frequently. Not so often the advertisements in newspapers are chosen and only in two cases the direct contact to the employer was chosen. The theoretical part of the bachelor thesis could serve to the job-seekers, optionally to the students in the basic orientation in the system of the social security in unemployment. The research results could also bring the current view of the unemployment and its influence on lifestyle to the people who are concerned at the present time.
